The Silent Ranks: The Army Wives

There is an ancient Chinese Curse - "May you live in interesting times." That's the life of an Army Wife. It is as much a curse as it is a blessing . But ask any Army Wife , she will proudly say, "she'd rather not have it any other way- they are the strength behind the Indian Army, standing by their husbands and holding fort while while they are away on duty.

That indeed is an important job.

It is certainly a full time job to be an Army Wife...they are constantly moving, belonging to every place the Army takes them , even if it in the remotest part of India.

These women warriors are experts at 'packing years‌' up in black painted boxes.

The Army Wives belong to a special breed. They are beautiful , talented, resourceful and above all extraordinary because they are in love with the soldier- a soldier who may never return when he goes on a field posting , defending borders , including the highest war zone in the world- the Siachen Glacier.

The Army Wife remains in the shadows, giving support , taking care of the family in his absence , loving him without any conditions, knowing that to him his first love will always be the country.

Whenever you will speak to an Army Wife she will always tell you excitedly how much she has learnt being a part of the Olive Green Family. You often hear them saying that life in the forces have given them many experiences as it was a soft skill training unknowingly done. It taught them time management when they were shifting houses from one city to another or completing given tasks on time, which were part of their responsibilities ,knowing what is important and urgent.

A few Army Wives are of the opinion that the life in the Army has taught them Stress Management, whenever their husbands were away on duty, and they had to handle everything smoothly, waiting patiently for their spouse's calls.

Emotional intelligence is  an important skill which All  Army Wives possess  wherein they can handle any situation by handling their mood and temperament. They are well versed in transactional analysis,where they could analyze their social relationships. They are full of empathy as they easily put themselves in other person's shoes and contribute in some way or the other in others lives positively.

An Army Wife has the caliber to set goals effectively so that they can plan for a better for themselves.

The life in the forces teaches the ladies etiquette and manners to enhance their personality.

Motivation is a skill deeply rooted in them which they acquire when they get a chance to interact with their soldiers on the borders and they learn from them that ' NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Team Spirit is another important trait of the army ladies which they acquire when they manage to manage a lot of events together as a team.There is no end to the qualities an army wife possesses.
